Championship Director - S-RC Cup
The Championship Director sits at a high level leadership role, and is responsible for the operational and sporting delivery of the S-RC Cup Championship - from teams entering the series to the chequered flag at the Season Finale.
Be advised: This is a voluntary position, as with all roles at the S-RC Cup.
S-RC is looking for a Championship Director to take ownership of the sporting and operational delivery of the S-RC Cup.
The S-RC Cup is a year-long STEM and motorsport competition for students aged 12–18, combining engineering, business, sponsorship and competitive RC racing. Following our first season, we're looking for someone who can help take the championship to the next level.
This isn't a role where you'll simply be helping out at events. You'll be responsible for making the championship happen.
The Role
As Championship Director, you will own the day-to-day running and development of the S-RC Cup Championship Series. You'll work closely with the Founder/CEO and wider S-RC team, but you'll have significant autonomy over how the championship is delivered.
You'll oversee everything from competitor communications and sporting procedures to event preparation, race operations and post-event review.
You'll be expected to identify problems, make decisions and find solutions - not wait to be told what to do. You will work closely with S-RC Championship Directors running other S-RC Motor Racing Series’.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Championship Management: Managing the championship calendar, sporting structure, regulations, procedures and competitive format.
- Event Operations: Leading the planning and delivery of S-RC Cup rounds, working with the wider operations team to ensure venues, equipment, staffing, logistics and race operations are ready.
- Teams & Competitors: Acting as the senior point of contact for participating schools and teams, overseeing registrations, communications, queries and competitor issues.
- Sporting Operations: Overseeing scrutineering, race procedures, results, penalties, protests and other sporting matters, ensuring the championship is run fairly and consistently.
- People & Volunteers: Coordinating with the wider S-RC operations and volunteer teams to ensure the championship has the people it needs to operate effectively.
- Championship Development: Reviewing each event, identifying improvements and helping shape the future format and direction of S-RC Cup.

Who We Are Looking For
We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility.
Ideally, we would be looking for a student, or recent student, who understands what it is like to be a 12-18 year old in the recent modern world.
What matters most is that you can demonstrate that you can:
- Take ownership of a project and see it through.
- Organise people, tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Make sensible decisions under pressure.
- Communicate confidently and professionally.
- Solve problems independently.
- Work with volunteers and people from different backgrounds.
- Commit reliably to the S-RC Cup calendar.
- Represent S-RC professionally with schools, teams, venues and partners.
- Comfortable in front of a camera (Social media and Press will be interviewing you)
Experience is a bonus, but not required. Knowledge of motorsport however, is required - at least at a minimum of a fan perspective.
Be aware, at this point in time, S-RC is currently seeking further funding. So for the time being, any travel is not immediately compensated - however volunteers are invited to submit expenses to us, and when S-RC comes into a position of funds, it will reimburse you for past event travel.
We're particularly interested in people who have previously led teams, societies, projects, competitions, events or other complex initiatives.
What You Will Get
This is a voluntary leadership position, so there is no salary. At present, S-RC does not have sufficient funding to guarantee reimbursement of volunteer travel expenses. Volunteers may submit eligible expenses for our records, and S-RC intends to reimburse outstanding eligible expenses when sufficient funds become available. Applicants should therefore only apply if they are comfortable with this arrangement.

You'll gain experience in championship management, motorsport operations, event delivery, sporting procedures, leadership and working with schools, teams and external partners.
You'll also have the opportunity to build something rather than simply maintain something that already exists. You will have a genuine influence over how the S-RC Cup develops, and a potential future position to become permanent in this role if you and the company are successful.
You are also helping to build a good cause - inspiring more young people into STEM and motorsport, and giving them an engaging, fun, and educational experience outside of the classroom.
Formal experience confirmation (certificate) and a reference can also be provided following meaningful contribution to the role.
Commitment
This is a leadership position and requires a meaningful, reliable commitment throughout the S-RC Cup season.
The majority of the role can be carried out remotely, but attendance at S-RC Cup events and key planning meetings is essential to being successful as a championship director.
As a volunteer, we recognise that your availability will be subject to your other commitments. You will have autonomy over how you manage your time and should communicate openly with the team when your availability changes.
