Job Title: Change Lead
Location: Northampton/Glasgow (Hybrid - 2 days a week in the office on Mondays and Wednesdays)
Duration: 6 months
Overall purpose of the role
We are looking for a highly driven Change Lead to spearhead a greenfield digital transformation in our Payments business (EMI license initiative). This is an execution-focused role—we need a leader who can translate customer needs into optimized processes, drive complex operational migrations, and provide measurable proof that changes are permanently embedded.
Key Skills
- Execution & Ownership: A proven track record of driving end-to-end operational transformations and system changes. You don't just plan; you deliver.
- Process Optimization: Strong commercial mindset with the ability to map customer needs to efficient processes. Lean/Six Sigma certification is highly preferred (we need a process optimizer, not a traditional Business Analyst).
- Structured Governance: High discipline in project control. You use rigorous frameworks and take clear ownership of risks, controls, and measurable outcomes.
- Digital CX Expertise: Experience rolling out digital-first customer service models or CRMs (retail or tech backgrounds are welcome).
- Autonomy & Influence: Exceptional ability to navigate ambiguity, solve problems independently, and confidently manage senior stakeholders.
- Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with Payments and Gateways is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the Delivery: Take full accountability for executing the transformation from initial design through to operational go-live.
- Embed & Measure: Ensure changes actually stick. Define and track metrics that prove the success and sustainability of the transformation.
- Redesign Operations: Replace traditional service models with lean, digital-first operational processes.
- Own the Risk: Build highly structured project plans (no "fluid" planning) and actively manage controls throughout the transition.
- Manage Readiness: Work closely with operations teams to ensure the business is 100% prepared for system and process changes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Hybrid Working
Barclays is currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Barclays is flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. Barclays also has a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances.
Your Benefits
As a contract employee of Randstad Sourceright, you’ll receive a wide range of financial and personal benefits. There’s enrolment in a pension plan (after 12 weeks on assignment) and holiday pay (after eight weeks on assignment). You can discuss any special holiday requests, for weddings, graduations or other significant occasions during this initial period with your team leader. You’ll also get 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Programme, designed to help you deal with any problems that could be affecting your home or work life. Plus, there’s discounts at heaps of high street shops, restaurants and entertainment - from Asda to Zizzi Italian restaurants.
