We are currently partnering with a leading international bank based in the City of London, who offer Hybrid working and excellent benefits in recruiting someone to lead a small core Banking Operations Change & Transformation team
Candidate Profile/Background
The successful candidate for this role would have started their career in a core banking operations function to a senior level and moved into a change and transformation role or alternatively moved from change and transformation into banking operations
You will have gained experience across:
- Operational process change, controls, risk management, governance, and regulatory requirements developing a strong understanding of how a bank operates day-to-day
- Ownership of initiatives/projects focused on process improvements, regulatory change, operating model enhancements, and new product implementations.
- A specialist mix of operational experience with a strong change background, bridging the gap between strategy and execution embedding real operational change across everyday operations.
JOB FUNCTION
The Head of Change Transformation Team is responsible for shaping and driving the strategic direction of change across the Branch, ensuring all transformation initiatives are aligned with the organisation’s long-term objectives and deliver measurable business value. This role provides leadership and oversight across the full change lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to execution, embedding, and post-implementation review.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and maintain robust frameworks, ensuring change initiatives are effectively prioritised, risks are proactively identified and managed, and delivery is executed in a controlled, compliant, and transparent manner.
- The position leads and coordinates complex, cross-functional change and transformation initiatives, including the implementation of new products and processes. This involves close partnership with stakeholders across all functions to drive clear accountability and strong engagement throughout the change lifecycle.
- It promotes the adoption of structured change methodologies, tools, and performance metrics to ensure consistency, sustainability, and long-term value realisation.
- Ensure that change initiatives are not only successfully delivered but fully embedded into business operations
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of governance frameworks supporting change and transformation
- Implement robust oversight, reporting, and control mechanisms to enhance transparency and accountability
- Ensure alignment with regulatory expectations, internal risk frameworks, and strategic priorities

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 10+ years’ experience in banking or financial services, with significant exposure to change management and transformation delivery
- Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional transformation programmes in a regulated environment
- Strong expertise in governance, risk management, and control framework design
- Deep understanding of banking operations, regulatory requirements, and industry practices
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities – including objective setting, performance reviews, and career development
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Experience with change methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean, Six Sigma)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
