Role Purpose

This is a commercially focused role for someone who enjoys turning good propositions into market success. You will help colleagues across global sales channels understand, position and sell digital English learning and assessment solutions to corporate and government customers, while feeding practical market insight back into proposition development.

The Channel Development Manager will help grow adoption and revenue for the Work/Online portfolio by making sure sales colleagues have the insight, tools and commercial guidance they need to position our solutions confidently. Acting as the link between Proposition, Sales, Marketing and Network teams, you will translate customer and market feedback into sharper value propositions, stronger sales enablement and clearer routes to growth.

The role enables internal sales channels, including the B2O team and colleagues across the Network, with the insight, tools, commercial guidance and sales enablement support needed to confidently position and sell our solutions. The role also captures market, customer and partner feedback to inform proposition development, pricing strategies and future growth opportunities.

You will join the Work/Online Proposition team at a time when the British Council is scaling digital English learning and assessment solutions for employers, governments and partners around the world. Our products help private and public sector organisations address recruitment screening, L&D, career progression, talent management, leadership development, employability and CSR goals. The team brings together customer insight, proposition and product development and commercial delivery, making sure our solutions are market-ready, clearly positioned and supported by the sales tools needed to win and grow business.

The Proposition team is part of English and Exams, which enables people across the world to access the life-changing education and work opportunities that are created by learning English or gaining valuable UK qualifications. Promoting the English language also provides a medium for communication, helping break down barriers of misunderstanding or mistrust between cultures. The British Council’s vision for English is to be the world authority in high quality English language teaching, learning and assessment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
