Gilmerton Care Home, located in the peaceful south of Edinburgh, offers exceptional residential, nursing, dementia, and respite care. Our home provides a warm, family-like environment with modern, comfortable living spaces, engaging activities, and personalised care plans.

Care Home Assistant Practitioner Contract

  • £14.50 per hour
  • 38.5 hours per week
  • Shift Times: 7:45AM - 8PM
  • 1 hour unpaid break
  • Paid PVG, pension and uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Working closely alongside Nurses and the wider care team, you will take on additional responsibilities that go beyond day to day care, supporting residents with clinical tasks, monitoring wellbeing, assisting with care planning, and helping ensure individual needs are met safely and consistently. Your role will combine hands-on care with greater responsibility, helping provide reassurance and continuity for both residents and colleagues.

What Matters Most

  • Previous experience working within a care environment is essential
  • SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
  • Confidence supporting residents with more complex care needs
  • Good communication skills and ability to work closely with Nurses and the wider team
  • Compassionate, professional, and reliable approach with strong attention to detail
  • Genuine passion for delivering high quality care and supporting resident wellbeing
