About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Cyber Security Chapter head at Tesco Mobile as a Security Business Partnering Manager (Chapter Lead). An exciting opportunity where you will play a critical role in shaping how security enables innovation across our products and technology landscape. You will sit at the heart of the business, working side-by-side with product, engineering, and technology leaders to ensure security is built in from the ground up—empowering teams to move fast while staying secure. This role sits across Security Partnering, Security Culture & Awareness, AI Governance.

This role can be based in any of our 3 head offices (Slough, Welwyn Garden City or Manchester). Occasional travel to the other offices may be required and is expensable. Tesco Mobile currently operate a hybrid working arrangement with a minimum of 2 days per week collaborating with colleagues at an office, Store, or Supplier location. This role has potential for career growth or learning opportunities for the right person.
You will be responsible for
As a Security Business Partnering Manager (Chapter Lead), you will play a critical role in shaping how security enables innovation across our products and technology landscape. You will sit at the heart of the business, working side-by-side with product, engineering, and technology leaders to ensure security is built in from the ground up—empowering teams to move fast while staying secure. This role sits across Security Partnering, Security Culture & Awareness, AI Governance.
This is not a traditional “assurance” role—this is about influence, leadership, and impact. You will act as a trusted advisor, translating complex security challenges into clear, actionable insights that drive better business outcomes. At the same time, you will lead and grow a team of Security Partners, building capability and creating a culture where security is seen as a shared responsibility.
This is a leadership role requiring a balance of both strategic vision and operational execution. The successful candidate will build, develop, and lead a high-performing team, while ensuring alignment with broader organisational risk and security objectives.
A key aspect of the role is leveraging frontier AI technologies to reduce risk across the business and with our partners. This includes developing a high-performing team, promoting an automation & AI-first mindset, and ensuring you enable the business as a trusted innovation partner.

We are an Agile business organised around cross functional end-to-end squads, which are then grouped into Tribes and Centres of Excellence (CoE). This role will require collaboration across all areas of the business, so how you work is just as important as what you do. You should be just as comfortable solving complex technical challenges, as you are educating others and enabling the business, while always thinking customer first.
You will need
- Proven experience in a senior security role across a broad range of domains
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders
- Deep understanding of secure development practices, modern architectures, and cloud environments
- Experience embedding security into engineering workflows (e.g. DevSecOps, SSDLC)
- Ability to identify, assess, and communicate security risks in business terms
- An ambition to constantly learn new skills and develop knowledge, with a specific focus on monitoring developments in frontier AI cyber capabilities
- Attention to detail and great communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, while influencing senior stakeholders and driving adoption across engineering and business units
- Keen to cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation and bringing industry standards to everything we do.
- Should be passionate about improving ways of working and best practices by understanding the customer.
Nice to haves
- Experience operating in large, complex or fast-paced organisations
- Have awareness and understanding of current cyber security threats, actors and their techniques.
- Experience defining security strategy or leading transformation initiatives
- Knowledge of relevant security & AI governance frameworks and regulations, such as Mitre ATT&CK, NIST, TSA.
- Any relevant study or certifications, either formal or self-learning.
