Charge Back Specialist

This is an opportunity to join a business at a pivotal stage in the evolution of its fraud function. You will play a key role in moving the organisation from a reactive approach to a more strategic fraud prevention capability, combining hands-on case management with process improvement and long-term fraud reduction initiatives.
The Company
They are a well-established consumer-facing organisation with a significant eCommerce presence and high transaction volumes. Their focus is on delivering a secure and seamless customer experience while continuously strengthening fraud prevention capabilities. As part of a wider transformation programme, they are investing in improved processes, controls and frameworks to reduce fraud risk and chargeback volumes.
The Role and Deliverables
- Analyse fraud and chargeback case backlogs to identify recurring patterns, trends and root causes.
- Investigate and manage chargeback and product fraud cases, ensuring timely resolution and effective outcomes.
- Develop and implement fraud prevention frameworks, processes and controls to reduce future fraud volumes.
- Produce reporting and insights that support fraud strategy and operational decision-making.
- Collaborate with Fraud, Product and Operational teams to enhance fraud prevention capabilities.
- Recommend and support the implementation of best practice fraud controls within an eCommerce environment.

Your Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in chargebacks, payment fraud or fraud operations.
- Strong understanding of chargeback processes, dispute management and fraud investigation workflows.
- Ability to analyse fraud trends and identify opportunities for preventative action.
- Experience designing and implementing fraud controls, frameworks and operational processes.
- Background within eCommerce, online retail or high-volume transaction environments.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Knowledge of card payment schemes, chargeback regulations or fraud monitoring tools is beneficial.
- Experience producing actionable fraud reporting and insights is advantageous.
