The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical leadership to the nursing team within Ward 43, Glasgow Royal Infirmary. We are looking to recruit an experienced Registered Nurse to work within the multidisciplinary professional team, ensuring a high standard of care for cardiology patients and supporting their acute care, rehabilitation and discharge planning through the delivery of holistic and compassionate care.
You will regularly take charge and lead the team within this busy acute cardiology unit, coordinating care and ensuring optimal patient flow throughout the department. You will act as a role model for junior staff, provide specialist knowledge and advice, and evaluate and implement care. You will support and deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse(s) in their absence and undertake any necessary managerial duties.
You will provide evidence of care assurance within the ward and have awareness and experience of managing staff issues in accordance with Once for Scotland policies. Mentorship and coaching will be provided, with a strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional development. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- This is a permanent post
- This is a 36-hour per week post, working Monday to Sunday on a rotational shift pattern
- Rotation between day and night shifts will be required
- The post is based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team within the acute cardiology unit, regularly taking charge and coordinating the delivery of patient care to ensure optimal patient flow.
- Support the delivery of high-quality, holistic and compassionate care to cardiology patients throughout their acute care, rehabilitation and discharge planning.
- Act as a role model for junior staff, provide specialist knowledge and advice, evaluate and implement care, and support the Senior Charge Nurse(s) in their absence.
- Undertake appropriate managerial responsibilities, provide evidence of care assurance and contribute to the management of staff issues in accordance with Once for Scotland policies.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job:
- Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Experience of working within an acute clinical environment.
- Experience and knowledge of caring for cardiology patients.
- Experience of providing clinical leadership within a nursing team.
- Ability to take charge and coordinate the delivery of patient care.
- Knowledge of acute care, rehabilitation and discharge planning.
- Ability to provide specialist nursing knowledge and advice.
- Experience of supporting and developing junior staff.
- Awareness and experience of managing staff issues in line with Once for Scotland policies.
- Ability to provide care assurance within the clinical environment.
- Commitment to staff wellbeing, professional development, kindness and civility.
