About Us
Ashford & Tenterden Umbrella supports adults experiencing poor mental health, loneliness and social isolation across Ashford and the surrounding rural communities. We run a weekly Chatty Café, an Art Wellbeing Group, and supported Out & About minibus trips, providing accessible, non-judgemental, community-based support.
About the Role
This new Charity Assistant role will report to the Community Engagement Officer, providing practical support across administration, fundraising, and community engagement, helping Umbrella keep pace with demand and grow sustainably.

Administration & Coordination Support

- Help with day-to-day administration, correspondence and record-keeping
- Assist with collecting and recording service user surveys and feedback
- Support volunteer recruitment, communication and coordination
Fundraising Support
- Help research funding opportunities
- Assist with donor and supporter records
- Support community fundraising activity and fundraising events
Community Engagement & Promotion
- Help maintain our social media and other promotional materials
- Support outreach to referral partners, community organisations and local groups
- Assist with promoting Umbrella's services to potential new members
Person Specification

- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable with basic IT (email, social media, simple spreadsheets)
- Organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload
- A friendly, non-judgemental approach and genuine interest in mental health and community support
- Previous charity, admin, fundraising or community work experience is desirable but not essential
