Role Description
The Charity Compliance & Governance Officer (Volunteer) will support the Irene Vera Foundation in maintaining strong governance practices and compliance with relevant charity regulations in both the UK and Zimbabwe. Day-to-day responsibilities may include:

- Reviewing and updating governance policies
- Supporting board and committee administration

The role will involve maintaining accurate records, assisting with risk management processes, and helping ensure transparency and accountability across programs and operations. This is a full-time remote volunteer role, requiring regular collaboration with leadership and project teams through online meetings and digital communication.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of charity governance, compliance frameworks, and regulatory requirements (e.g., charity law, reporting obligations, data protection).
- Experience with policy development, document drafting, and maintaining organized records for boards, committees, and regulatory bodies.
- Skills in risk assessment, internal controls, and monitoring procedures to support ethical and transparent organizational practices.
- Proficiency in using digital tools for remote collaboration (such as office productivity suites, shared document platforms, and video conferencing).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and accessibly.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a remote setting.
- Interest in or experience with education, inclusion, or neurodiversity advocacy is highly beneficial.
- Prior experience in nonprofit, charity, or community organization governance is an advantage; relevant professional or academic background in law, public administration, or a related field is desirable.
