Interim Charity Head of Finance
Cambridge - hybrid
12 months fixed-term contract
A leading global conservation charity is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance to join its senior leadership team on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role within an internationally respected organisation delivering impact on a global scale.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board and senior leadership team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the finance function, ensuring continuity, financial control and strategic support across the organisation.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the finance function, including management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, audit, payroll, VAT, AP and AR.
- Delivering insightful financial reporting to senior stakeholders and the Board.
- Ensuring compliance with all statutory, tax and audit requirements.
- Cashflow management, including foreign exchange activities.
- Managing and developing a high-performing finance team.
- Supporting complex projects and partnering with non-finance stakeholders across the organisation.

About You
We're looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) with previous finance leadership experience and the ability to quickly add value within a dynamic environment.
You'll ideally bring:
- Experience within a charity or not-for-profit environment.
- Exposure to project-focused or grant-funded organisations.
- Foreign exchange experience.
- ERP knowledge / experience implementing new finance systems.
- Confidence working with senior leadership teams and boards.
- Strong communication skills and an empowering leadership style.

Package
- Competitive basic salary.
- 12-month fixed-term contract.
- Cambridge based.
- Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the office initially, reducing to 2 days per week after 3 months.
