Charity Retail Assistant Manager – Fixed-Term Maternity Cover
Hailsham | 21 hours per week over 3 days | National Minimum Wage
The Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare is looking for a Charity Retail Assistant Manager to join our Hailsham charity shop team on a fixed-term maternity cover basis.
Working alongside the Shop Manager, you’ll help with the day-to-day running of the shop and take responsibility for its safe and effective operation in their absence.
The role includes:
- Supporting customers, donors and volunteers
- Supervising and supporting volunteers on shift
- Processing, pricing and merchandising donated stock
- Maintaining shop standards and stock organisation
- Till operation, cash handling and opening/closing procedures
- Dealing with routine operational issues and providing appropriate handovers
- Ensuring security, health and safety and GDPR procedures are followed

We’re looking for someone with retail, charity retail or customer service experience who is organised, reliable, confident working independently and comfortable taking responsibility for the shop when required.

Previous charity retail, keyholder or supervisory experience would be an advantage.
The role is 21 hours per week over three days. Working days are flexible and will be agreed with the successful candidate, although the working pattern may include Saturdays.
We are aiming for the successful candidate to start towards the end of October 2026.
