Guy's and St Thomas' Kidney Patient Association (GSTTKPA) Trustee and Company Secretary
Guy's and St Thomas' Kidney Patient Association (GSTTKPA) is going through an exciting period of change and we are seeking to recruit a new Trustee and Company Secretary for the charity to support our ambitious change programme and achieve the aims and objectives of the charity.
What difference will you make?
The Company Secretary plays a pivotal role in strengthening the governance, continuity and effectiveness of GSTTKPA. Their impact is felt across every part of the charity’s work — from how confidently trustees make decisions, to how well patients feel supported, to how transparently the charity operates.
At its core, this role ensures that the KPA remains legally compliant, well-organised and accountable, enabling trustees to focus on what matters most: improving the lives of kidney patients and their families.
Safeguarding the charity’s governance and reputation
By keeping records up to date, submitting statutory returns, and ensuring decisions follow the Articles of Association and Charity Commission guidance, the Company Secretary protects the charity’s integrity and public trust. This stewardship ensures GSTTKPA remains a credible, compliant and respected voice for kidney patients.

What are we looking for?
- Experience of governance/company secretarial work
- Good communication skills (written & verbal)
- Organisational ability
- Collaborative approach
- Knowledge or experience of company law and legal requirements for a limited company
- Minute-taking experience

What will you be doing?
The role of Company Secretary is a key and important Trustee position on the Board. Trustees play a vital role in making sure that GSTTKPA achieves its core purpose. They also ensure that the charity has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, all the Trustees have a collective responsibility. This means that the Trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.
The role of the Company Secretary is to support the Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer by ensuring the board functions smoothly. The Company Secretary will also have the opportunity to assist with activities and initiatives that GSTTKPA funds.
As a Trustee, we also require the successful applicant to commit to equality, celebrate diversity and be responsive to the needs of different groups and individuals within GSTTKPA and the wider community. In return, the successful applicant will join a small but warm and friendly Board of Trustees that works collaboratively to support each other as well as our kidney patients.
