SUPPORT BRIGHTER FUTURES:

Position: Charity Support Officer

Reporting to: Charity Director

Job Location: Primary base Boparan Charitable Trust Office, near Birmingham International Train Station. Potential for some hybrid working after probation.

Hours: 40 per week – Post requires occasional weekend and evening work throughout the year. The charity offers an excellent time in lieu policy for additional work.

Holiday: 25 days + Bank Holidays

Salary: Circa £27,500 + Pension (Depending on Experience)

Contract length: Permanent


In the UK, there are more than 1.3 million disabled children and nearly four million children living in poverty. The Boparan Charitable Trust exists to create brighter futures for them. Over the last decade, the charity has continually increased the number of children it helps year on year. Whilst maintaining its core values of being accessible and flexible to families, offering one of the quickest turnaround times for applications of any charity in the UK, receiving an average of 2000 applications per year.

After a successful few years of growth, the charity has ambitions to continue to meet the increasing demand for its services, making this an exciting and pivotal appointment, as you will become part of the driving force behind this motivated team.

We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic, and highly organized Charity Support Officer to work alongside our in-house team on a variety of third-sector functions.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, be persuasive, articulate, and results-driven, with top-class administration and organizational abilities. Competent in Microsoft Office packages and various social media platforms.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

BENEFICIARIES

  • Be the first point of reference for beneficiary enquiries and queries regarding the charity application process.
  • Support the beneficiary manager in all aspects of the application process for the charity, to ensure a consistent high level of service delivery and administration.
  • Ensure accurately maintained beneficiary records in accordance with GDPR and data protection guidelines.

FUNDRAISING

  • Provide administrative support to the events and fundraising manager as required.
  • Take ownership of the charity supporter / donor thank you process, in conjunction with the events and fundraising manager.
  • Support on the wider charity events, such as the Bright Star Ball, Boparan Golf and Football Tournament.

SOCIAL MEDIA / WEBSITE UPDATES

  • In conjunction with the Charity Director, develop a social media / website calendar. Ensuring consistent year-round messaging for the charity supporters.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Oversee the charity office space, ensuring everything is kept in a tidy and good order for the wider team.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Undertake other reasonably requested duties under the direction of the Charity Director.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES REQUIRED

  • Previous charity experience desirable.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a highly motivated team.
  • Able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong IT and administrative skills.
  • Organized and proactive approach.
  • Flexible and able to travel throughout the UK.
