Company Description
The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre is an animal rescue charity based in West Sussex, dedicated to the care, treatment, and rehoming of ill, injured, and unwanted reptiles. The organisation provides education to the public about responsible reptile ownership and welfare. It is a small, community-focused charity that operates through the expertise and commitment of volunteers. Prospective trustees will join a passionate team working to improve outcomes for reptiles in need and support the charity’s long-term sustainability.
Role Description
The Charity Trustee role at The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre is a volunteer position based on-site in Bognor Regis. Trustees are responsible for overseeing the charity’s governance, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and supporting the development of strategic plans. Day-to-day activities may include:

Trustees collaborate with volunteers and other stakeholders to promote the charity’s mission, enhance its impact, and safeguard the wellbeing of animals in its care.
Qualifications
- Experience in governance, charity management, or board-level decision-making, with an understanding of legal and regulatory responsibilities for charities.
- Skills in financial oversight, budgeting, or accounting to help ensure responsible use of funds and long-term sustainability.
- Background in animal welfare, veterinary services, or reptile care is highly beneficial, including an interest in reptile health and responsible ownership.
- Ability to contribute to fundraising, community outreach, or marketing activities to raise awareness and support for the charity.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work constructively with volunteers and other trustees.
- Commitment to the charity’s mission, reliability in attending on-site meetings in Bognor Regis, and willingness to devote sufficient time to trustee responsibilities.
