Company Description
Silverline Memories is a registered charity in England and Wales (number 1163582) dedicated to supporting people affected by dementia and their families. Based in and serving the community around Newcastle upon Tyne, the charity focuses on providing meaningful activities, social opportunities, and emotional support. Silverline Memories works in partnership with local organizations and volunteers to reduce isolation and improve quality of life. Prospective trustees will join a small, committed team that values compassion, integrity, and community engagement.
Role Description
As a Charity Trustee at Silverline Memories, you will help guide the strategic direction and oversight of the charity’s activities in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is an on-site volunteer role, involving attendance at regular board meetings and occasional charity events or community activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Reviewing and approving plans and budgets
- Monitoring financial and operational performance
- Ensuring the charity complies with its legal and regulatory obligations

Trustees collaborate with fellow board members and staff to:
- Assess risks
- Support fundraising and stakeholder engagement
- Safeguard the charity’s mission and values
You will be expected to:
- Prepare for meetings
- Contribute to decision-making
- Act as an ambassador for Silverline Memories in the local community
Qualifications
- Experience or strong interest in charity governance, including understanding of trustee responsibilities and compliance with Charity Commission guidance.
- Skills in strategic planning, problem-solving, and decision-making, with the ability to contribute to long-term goals and priorities.
- Basic financial awareness, such as reading budgets and accounts, and supporting the effective use of charitable resources.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a board and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to the charity’s mission, empathy for people affected by dementia, and a high standard of integrity and accountability.
- Previous experience in health, social care, community work, fundraising, or nonprofit management is beneficial but not essential.
- Availability to attend on-site meetings and events in Newcastle upon Tyne and to serve as a trustee for an agreed term.
