Run the operation at the heart of a growing cricket charity
Bat For A Chance is a UK charity that uses cricket as a tool for social change. We collect donated cricket equipment from across the UK and get it into the hands of the players, clubs and projects who need it most across the UK and around the world. Our kit recycling operation is the backbone of everything we do, and we're looking for someone to take charge of the warehouse where it runs from.
The role
You'll run our warehouse in Staplehurst, Kent and own the journey of every piece of kit that passes through it. Once requests for kit have been approved, you'll handle the full fulfilment of UK orders: checking stock, boxing up, keeping applicants informed on what we can send and when it will arrive, and dispatching via Royal Mail. You'll also prepare international shipments (roughly one country per month) with their packing lists and commercial invoices.
The day to day tasks
- Keeping on top of our inventory tracker
- Re-ordering supplies
- Managing communications with donors to schedule kit collections around your own diary
- Using our charity van to deliver and collect kit
- Occasionally representing us at events: setting up the charity gazebo and spreading the good word about what we do
You'll work closely with and report into our Head of Operations, who has built the systems and processes behind the programme and vets every kit request and donation before it reaches you. Although he's based remotely, he is available as often as you need, but the physical warehouse is yours to run, and he's looking for someone to take ownership and responsibility for it on the ground.

In the busy summer months you'll have a temporary assistant to manage and keep on track. Through the quieter winter, the warehouse is yours to run solo, so you'll need to be comfortable working independently and setting your own pace.
Who we're looking for
The systems and processes we use are simple, but it does need someone exceptionally organized, proactive and diligent. We donated over 3,000 items last year and each one of them is picked, packed and sent from our warehouse. Whether you're an experienced operations or warehouse hand after a role with more meaning and balance, or a recent graduate ready to take on real responsibility early in your career, what matters most is how organized and motivated you are.
Plus, you should be digitally savvy and happy in Google Workspace. We live in Gmail, Docs and (lots of) Sheets, so Sheets/Excel skills score you extra points!
We'd love to hear from you if you:
- Take the initiative and work well independently, rather than waiting to be told
- Are highly organized, methodical and reliable, with a track record of keeping things running
- Hold a full, valid driving licence and are confident driving our charity van
- Are flexible and happy to muck in. This role involves lots of lifting and loading of boxes, to occasionally donning a suit and representing us at a charity golf day with ex-players
- Have an interest in cricket and the difference sport can make. Having a good eye for cricket kit helps! Can you tell a top grade English willow bat from a sturdy club bat perfect for a beginner? We need the right gear to reach the right players.

The details
- Location: our warehouse in Staplehurst, Kent
- Hours: 3 days (24 hours) a week, with two days ideally fixed
- Salary: £21,000 for the three-day week
- Start: October 2026, with interviews in September 2026
