Company Description
NBAS Chartered Accountants is a professional accountancy firm based in the Glengormley area, approximately 15 minutes from Belfast. The firm serves clients across Northern Ireland, from Newry to the North Coast, supporting micro businesses, SMEs, and large corporate organizations. NBAS works with a wide range of industries, including Professional Services, Construction, Manufacturing, Retail, and Hospitality. The team provides comprehensive services covering accounts and tax compliance, tax planning, VAT, payroll, bookkeeping, company incorporations, consultancy, and submissions to HMRC. Clients can meet on-site or at NBAS’s newly refurbished premises in Glengormley, where the firm offers a complimentary 1-hour consultation for new engagements.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Chartered Accountant role located in Antrim and Newtownabbey. The role involves:
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements
- Managing accounts compliance
- Ensuring timely submissions to HMRC and other regulatory bodies
- Handling tax compliance and planning, VAT returns, payroll processing, and bookkeeping oversight for a varied client portfolio

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Liaising directly with clients
- Providing advisory and consultancy services
- Supporting company incorporations
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
The role also requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting standards, tax legislation, and best practices, while contributing to a collaborative and client-focused work environment.
Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualifications, such as ACA, ACCA, or equivalent, and strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and relevant accounting standards.
- Experience in accounts preparation, tax compliance, VAT, payroll, and bookkeeping within practice or a similar professional services environment.
- Solid understanding of UK and Northern Ireland tax legislation, including corporate and personal tax, with the ability to support tax planning and advisory work.
- Proficiency with accounting and tax software, as well as strong Excel and general IT skills for managing and analyzing financial data.
- Effective communication and client relationship skills, including the ability to explain complex financial information clearly and build trust with diverse businesses.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently, demonstrating integrity, professional judgment, and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Prior experience working with SMEs and larger corporate clients across sectors such as Professional Services, Construction, Manufacturing, Retail, or Hospitality is an advantage.
