Chartered Building Surveyor

London | Property & Construction Consultancy | Up to £60,000 DOE + Benefits

This established construction consultancy is looking for an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to join their growing team in London.

With expertise spanning building surveying, architecture, design, engineering and technology, they offer the scale and resources of a wider group while retaining the collaborative feel of a specialist consultancy.

This is a great opportunity for an MRICS Building Surveyor who enjoys variety, wants genuine client exposure and is keen to play an active role in the continued growth of a Building Surveying team.

What you'll be doing

You'll have the opportunity to work across a broad mix of professional and project-based instructions, supporting clients across sectors including residential, commercial, healthcare and more.

Your workload will include:

  • Building, condition and pre-acquisition surveys
  • Defect diagnosis, building pathology and technical assessments
  • Technical reporting, schedules and repair recommendations
  • Dilapidations, Scott Schedules and reinstatement assessments
  • Party Wall and neighbourly matters, including condition reports and Awards
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance programmes
  • Technical due diligence for acquisitions and disposals
  • Repair, refurbishment, maintenance and reinstatement cost advice
  • Contract administration and delivery of small to medium-sized projects
  • Working with JCT contracts, including Minor Works and Design & Build
  • Providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice to clients
  • Preparing fee proposals and supporting business development activity
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting and developing junior members of the team

What they're looking for

They're looking for a confident and technically capable MRICS Building Surveyor who can take ownership of their work and build credibility with clients.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • MRICS qualification
  • Strong experience across core Building Surveying services
  • Solid knowledge of construction methods, defects and building pathology
  • Experience undertaking building, condition and pre-acquisition surveys
  • Good understanding of dilapidations and associated legislation and best practice
  • Experience with Party Wall and neighbourly matters
  • Knowledge of planned maintenance and building lifecycles
  • Experience working with JCT contracts
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients and providing professional advice
  • A commercially minded approach, including an understanding of fees and resourcing
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a car
  • The right to work in the UK
