We're working with an established independent construction consultancy with 50+ years of experience and a growing Building Surveying team. With an increasing pipeline of work, they're looking for an MRICS Building Surveyor to join their close-knit team, with flexibility to work between London and Nottingham.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your instructions, build long-term client relationships and get involved throughout the project lifecycle - from the initial inspection and diagnosis right through to procurement and delivery.
Your role
Your workload could include:
- Carrying out building condition and defect surveys across a varied property portfolio
- Investigating building pathology, damp and mould and recommending appropriate remedial solutions
- Undertaking PPM surveys across education, healthcare and public sector properties
- Producing technical reports, schedules of condition, specifications and schedules of work
- Completing measured surveys and producing drawings using AutoCAD
- Advising clients on repair, maintenance and refurbishment requirements
- Acting as Contract Administrator on refurbishment and maintenance projects
- Managing projects from inception through to completion, including programme, cost, quality and risk
- Supporting procurement and tender exercises, reviewing contractor returns and making recommendations
- Carrying out site inspections and monitoring works against specifications
- Investigating insurance claims and providing technical advice throughout the claims process
- Undertaking dilapidations surveys and reporting
- Presenting findings and recommendations directly to clients
- Managing multiple instructions while maintaining a high standard of technical delivery
- Developing strong, long-term relationships with clients, contractors and professional teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
