Join Our Building Surveying Team in Birmingham

As a result of our continued growth, Ridge is looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor to join our Birmingham office.

This is an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career while working with a diverse range of clients and projects across the UK. You'll play an important role in delivering high-quality building surveying services, building strong client relationships, and helping to shape the future of our growing team.

You'll split your time between our Birmingham office and client sites across the UK, giving you exposure to a broad variety of buildings, sectors and project types.

About The Team

You'll join a growing building surveying team that supports several key client accounts with national property portfolios.

From day one, you'll work closely with experienced colleagues and provide technical advice to well-known clients across a range of sectors. As the team continues to expand, you'll have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility, including mentoring junior colleagues and helping to coordinate project delivery.

As a Chartered Building Surveyor, You'll

  • Build and develop project briefs alongside clients and senior colleagues
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Support business development activities and help identify new opportunities
  • Prepare designs, specifications and tender documentation
  • Administer Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) building contracts
  • Carry out a wide range of professional surveying services, including:
    • Condition surveys
    • Defect investigations
    • Party wall matters
    • Dilapidations advice
    • Reinstatement cost assessments
  • Work closely with clients, contractors and colleagues across the business
  • Support the Team Leader with project financial management
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team as the business grows

To Succeed In This Role, You'll Have

  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
  • Experience advising on commercial, retail or education sector properties within either the public or private sector
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience using NBS Chorus (desirable but not essential)
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK when required
