We're looking for a talented Chartered Building Surveyor or Project Manager to join our Bristol team. This role offers the chance to work across a broad range of instructions (depending on pathway experience) including project management, dilapidations, tenant alterations and professional surveying, while learning from some of the industry's most respected experts. The role combines technical delivery, client-facing responsibility and the opportunity to develop your own specialisms as your career progresses.

At Hollis, we don't believe surveyors should be limited to one type of work. You'll have the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of commercial property instructions, supporting investors, landlords, occupiers and developers with everything from refurbishment and project delivery through to dilapidations, technical due diligence, planned maintenance and defect-related advice. The breadth of work means you'll continue to build your expertise, gain exposure to different sectors and collaborate with specialists from across the business.

We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in building strong client relationships and wants to be part of a collaborative team where knowledge is shared and careers are developed. Whether you're looking to broaden your experience, deepen your technical expertise or take on greater responsibility, we'll give you the support, freedom and opportunities to shape a career that's right for you.

The Role

This role offers an excellent mix of professional and project-based building surveying work across a varied commercial property portfolio.

You'll work closely with clients, colleagues and project teams to deliver practical advice, manage projects and solve complex property challenges, while developing long-term relationships with leading investors, developers, landlords and occupiers.

The position would suit a Chartered Building Surveyor or Project Manager (or an experienced APC level Building Surveyor or Project Manager) who enjoys genuine variety, autonomy and career development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a broad range of building surveying instructions across commercial property portfolios (if pathway experience suits).
  • Take a lead on or support refurbishment, fit-out and improvement projects within a lucrative client portfolio.
  • Undertake and advise on dilapidations matters for both landlords and tenants (if pathway experience suits).
  • Support junior team members such as graduates & apprentices to assist their engagement and development.
  • Support technical due diligence commissions and acquisition surveys (if pathway experience suits).
  • Provide advice on defects, planned maintenance and wider building pathology instructions (if pathway experience suits).
  • Act as (or develop as) a project lead: managing instructions, client engagement and relationships, job related financials (fee proposals, invoicing, pipeline) and a point of contact across the South West region.
  • Learn to build and maintain strong client relationships through excellent service delivery and business development opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across surveying, engineering, project management and other specialist disciplines.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
