Hays Property & Surveying is seeking a Chartered Building Surveyor to join the Exeter office of an internationally renowned, multidisciplinary property consultancy.

A market-leading name within the property industry, this global consultancy operates across many countries and advises clients on some of the UK's most diverse and high-profile property portfolios. Combining genuine technical excellence with a supportive and collaborative culture, the business offers Chartered Building Surveyors the opportunity to work across a broad mix of professional and project-led instructions while building long-term relationships with private clients, landed estates, commercial occupiers and investors throughout the South West.

Based within their established and highly regarded Exeter team, you'll join a market-leading practice delivering advice on everything from building surveys and defect analysis through to contract administration, planned maintenance programmes and refurbishment projects, with exposure to a diverse portfolio of rural, residential and commercial property.

Your New Role

You'll deliver professional and project-based Building Surveying services across a varied portfolio of rural estates, commercial assets and residential property throughout the South West.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Specification, tendering, contract administration and project delivery to around £2m
  • Pre-acquisition and pre-purchase building surveys for a variety of commercial and residential assets
  • Preparation of schedules of condition for leasehold purposes
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) surveys and life cycle advice
  • Reinstatement cost assessments across diverse property portfolios
  • Defect diagnosis and technical consultancy
  • Dilapidations advice and negotiations
  • Feasibility studies, refurbishment and conversion projects
  • Conservation and heritage building consultancy
  • Managing and developing key client relationships
  • Supporting business development initiatives and identifying new opportunities within the South West market
  • Mentoring junior surveyors and contributing to team growth

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • MRICS
  • Strong technical Building Surveying experience across both professional and project work
  • Experience managing client relationships and independent delivery
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify business development opportunities
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and support colleagues
  • Working knowledge of current Building Regulations and industry best practice
  • A full UK driving licence
