Multi-skilled Chartered Building Surveyor
Our growing Manchester office has a fantastic opportunity for a multi-skilled (or project bias) Chartered Building Surveyor! We're offering the chance to work across a broad range of projects, dilapidations and professional surveying instructions as desired, while learning from some of the industry's most respected experts. The role combines technical delivery, client-facing responsibility and the opportunity to develop your own specialisms as your career progresses.
At Hollis, we don't believe surveyors should be limited to one type of work. You'll have the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of commercial property instructions, supporting investors, landlords, occupiers and developers with everything from refurbishment and project delivery through to dilapidations, technical due diligence, planned maintenance and defect-related advice. The breadth of work means you'll continue to build your expertise, gain exposure to different sectors and collaborate with specialists from across the business.
We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in building strong client relationships and wants to be part of a collaborative team where knowledge is shared and careers are developed. Whether you're looking to broaden your experience, deepen your technical expertise or take on greater responsibility, we'll give you the support, freedom and opportunities to shape a career that's right for you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
