Job Opportunity: General Practice Surveyor
Due to continued business growth, we are looking to recruit a General Practice Surveyor to join our expanding Newcastle office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified surveyor to take responsibility for a varied portfolio of commercial property instructions, working across agency, property management and asset management, alongside wider general practice and professional consultancy work.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across the business, providing commercially focused property advice to a diverse client base. The role will involve managing client instructions, supporting property and asset management strategies, undertaking agency and transactional work, and identifying opportunities to maximise the performance and value of client property assets.
This is a varied and client-facing role, offering the opportunity to work across a broad range of commercial property sectors while developing strong relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the Newcastle office.
Responsibilities
- Manage a varied portfolio of general practice instructions across commercial property.
- Work across commercial agency, property management and asset management, providing practical and commercially focused advice to clients.
- Undertake agency instructions, including acquisitions, disposals, lettings and general transactional advice.
- Support the management of client property portfolios, working alongside the wider Property Management team where appropriate.
- Provide asset management advice with a focus on improving property performance, income and capital value.
- Identify and implement asset management opportunities, including lease events, rent reviews, lettings, refurbishment, redevelopment and disposal strategies.
- Undertake property inspections and prepare detailed reports, providing clear recommendations and actionable advice.
- Provide landlord and tenant advice, including rent reviews, lease renewals, lease restructures and other occupational matters.
- Assist with property appraisals, market assessments and valuation advice where appropriate.
- Undertake market research and comparable evidence analysis to support professional advice and asset management decisions.
- Work closely with colleagues across Agency, Property Management, Valuation & Lease Advisory, Land & Development and Building Surveying to provide a coordinated service to clients.
- Manage instructions from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring deadlines, client requirements and professional standards are met.
- Liaise effectively with clients, tenants, agents, solicitors, lenders, developers, contractors and other professional advisers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and identify opportunities to develop new business.
- Assist with fee proposals, tenders, client presentations and other business development activities.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Newcastle and wider North East commercial property market.
- Identify opportunities to generate additional work across the wider business and introduce clients to relevant specialist teams where appropriate.
- Support and mentor graduate surveyors and other junior team members where required.
- Maintain accurate records of instructions, contacts, reports and other relevant information.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with professional standards, company procedures and relevant RICS standards.
- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the Newcastle office and wider business.

Requirements

- MRICS qualified, with a relevant degree or professional qualification in surveying, real estate or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within a general practice, consultancy or professional property environment.
- Experience across one or more of commercial agency, property management, asset management, landlord & tenant or valuation.
- A broad understanding of commercial property and the ability to provide practical advice across a range of property matters.
- Strong knowledge of the Newcastle and wider North East commercial property market would be advantageous.
- Commercially minded, with an understanding of how property decisions can improve income, capital value and overall asset performance.
- Excellent analytical, report-writing and numerical skills.
- Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to deal directly with clients and professional contacts.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for client instructions, while also contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to delivering high-quality professional advice and client service.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business travel.
