We are working with an established international shipowner looking to add a Chartering Manager to its London-based commercial team as part of continued business growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the earlier stages of their chartering career who is looking to take on greater commercial responsibility within a well-established shipping organisation.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director and working alongside an experienced Chartering Manager, you will be responsible for the spot chartering and commercial employment of vessels across the company’s Container/PCTC fleet.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Securing employment for assigned vessels at optimal rates and terms
  • Managing spot chartering activity and vessel fixtures
  • Marketing the fleet to existing and prospective clients
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with charterers, clients, and shipbrokers
  • Negotiating Charter Party terms and conditions
  • Monitoring freight markets, open cargoes, and fixture activity
  • Providing regular market intelligence and recommendations to senior management
  • Identifying new commercial opportunities and potential areas for business development
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the company's chartering strategy
  • Maintaining accurate fixture documentation and position lists
  • Providing commercial advice relating to vessel operations and demurrage exposure
  • Developing a strong understanding of worldwide and cross-sector chartering conditions

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
