Cheese Packer Role
This Cheese Packer position is one where you will gain experience of the cheese-making process, supporting the quality of product being made, ensuring they are packaged, and meet compliance and quality standards before being sent off to mature.
The role is one with real progression opportunities, where you can build a career in the industry across a range of areas – including into cheese making, whey production, and quality.
Your Responsibilities
- Utilising computers (SCADA) to manage the process and ensure traceability through tracking of data for analysis of the cheese and the process
- Ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality products
- Operating cheese packing equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production instruction
- Showing attention to detail and monitoring the process
- Communicating clearly and supporting with problem-solving in the event of a breakdown
- Maintaining cheese quality by manually handling 20kg cheese blocks and manually boxing up to 10 tonnes an hour in the event of automated machinery being unavailable
- Keeping accurate records and taking the necessary corrective action to maintain cheese line efficiencies and packaging quality
- Understanding the need for, and carrying out, hygiene and housekeeping requirements within the cheese department in accordance with relevant schedules and food safety requirements
- Identifying and communicating opportunities to improve working methods

Ideal Candidate
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience within production and food preparation environments.
- Someone who has deep and demonstrable experience working within a food production environment
- Knowledgeable with basic IT skills with the ability to use a PC/HMI/SCADA
- Able to demonstrate thinking on your feet with problem-solving skill
- A strong communicator and able to work as part of a team and independently
- Aware of basic food hygiene requirements
