Chef (in a Residential Home)
36.75 hrs (2 week rota average), Shifts 7.30am – 6.30pm, including alternate weekends.
£13.13 per hour plus £1.00 per hour at weekends (pay award pending).

At GCT we believe that good food is at the heart of great care. We are looking for a passionate, skilled, and caring Chef to join our catering team and support the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for older people living in our CQC-regulated residential home, Magdalen House.
Working alongside and reporting to the Chef Manager, you will play a key role in preparing nutritious, appetising meals that support residents’ health, wellbeing, and enjoyment of daily life.
About The Role
We have 36.75 hours per week, over a two-week average, contract available for a Chef to work in our beautifully kept residential home. The shift times are 7.30am – 6.30pm and the successful applicant will be working 7 shifts over two weeks, including alternate weekends.

Main Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present meals to a consistently high standard.
- Support the Chef Manager in delivering a varied and nutritious menu
- Cater for specialist dietary requirements and texture-modified diets.
- Ensure all food is prepared and served safely and hygienically.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with all food safety regulations.
- Complete food temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and other required records.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimizing food waste.
- Support Kitchen Assistants and work collaboratively within the wider care home team.
- Contribute to special events, themed menus, and celebrations for residents.
- Promote a positive dining experience that enhances residents’ quality of life.
Essential Requirements
- Experienced in a Chef, Cook, or similar catering role.
- Qualified to Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 or willing to obtain.
- Knowledgeable about food safety, allergens, and special dietary requirements.
- Organised, reliable, and able to work effectively under pressure.
- A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Passionate about providing excellent food and service for older people.
