Chef Role at Stanley House

Join Stanley House as a Chef, working alongside a dedicated team to craft daily meals for service users, staff, and visitors.

Role Overview

  • Hours: 37.5 hours a week
  • Responsibilities:
    • Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
    • Maintain good food storage procedures and stock rotation.
    • Prepare, plan, and cook meals to a high standard, accommodating special requests and dietary requirements.
    • Serve food and beverage to service users, staff, and visitors professionally.
    • Prepare and produce foods for conferences and banquets.
    • Participate in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
    • Adhere to 'Safer Food Better Business' standards and food hygiene regulations.
    • Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
    • Assist the Head Chef by researching and creating new menus.
    • Correctly file paperwork related to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP).

Key Activities

  • Events: Cater for activities, events, and special occasions such as World Food Day, Christmas, and Easter.
  • Environment: Work in a calm and pleasurable environment, managing workload effectively.
  • Social Interaction: Enjoy a great social aspect, interacting with people outside the kitchen regularly.

Requirements

  • Age: 18 years or older
  • Qualifications:
    • GCSE or equivalent English
    • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation and Cooking
    • Basic Food Hygiene (essential)
    • Intermediate Food Hygiene (desirable)
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in a similar environment
    • Experience in delivering a service on a large scale
    • Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control, and budget experience

About Stanley House

Stanley House offers a multidisciplinary approach to long-term care, providing specialized care and expert therapeutic interventions. The team supports residents in various aspects of personal care, from managing their own needs to being fully reliant. Activities and therapies include physiotherapy, art therapy, and input from a Professor in Neuropsychiatry and monthly specialist GP clinics.
