Join our catering team at Denstone College to deliver exceptional culinary produce for our bustling community. Job Purpose

To perform a mixture of roles in the provision of a high standard of culinary produce within the Catering Department.

Key Responsibilities

The Chef is responsible to the Site Services Manager, through the Assistant Catering Manager, Front of House Manager, or Chef Supervisor, for:

  • Ensuring a consistently high standard of culinary produce including preparation, cooking, and presentation consistent with practical economy.
  • Maintaining regular, consistent, and professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance, alongside adherence to relevant Health & Safety procedures.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene in the preparation and cooking of food.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen equipment and the kitchen areas.
  • Supervising the Catering Assistants in the absence of the Chef Supervisor.
  • Assisting in serving all meals for College staff and pupils, and for other functions held within the College.
  • Conserving energy by extinguishing powered cooking equipment, hot plates, and lights when not required.
  • Carrying out such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Site Services Manager.
  • Pursuing personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Catering and Hospitality qualification or relevant experience.
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of cooking with a range of different food and cuisines.
  • Experience of catering for allergies / dietary requirements.
