About Sanctuary Supported Living

Inclusion is central to our mission. We’re a diverse and inclusive organisation committed to fostering a warm, fair, and empathetic environment. By valuing a variety of perspectives, we create opportunities for both our teams and the people we support to thrive.

This role could also be referred to as Demi Chef, Line Chef, Cook, Chef de Partie (CDP), or Commis Chef.

The Role: Delivering Exceptional Meals with Balance

At Baird Lodge, our aim is to provide nutritious, restaurant-quality meals while ensuring staff maintain a healthy work-life balance—no late nights or split shifts here! As a Chef, you’ll work closely with our Chef Manager to uphold high standards of food quality, presentation, and dining experience.

Part of a compassionate, community-driven team, you’ll play a vital role creating meals tailored to the unique dietary needs of retirement community residents. Here, people come first every day—both those we support and our dedicated team.

#BeYourBest isn’t just a slogan; it’s our promise to help you grow, achieve your goals, and flourish in a nurturing environment. Whether it’s through training, mentorship, or recognition, we’ll support your professional development as much as your individuality.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we reinvest back into our teams and services, including offering fully funded hospitality qualifications to parents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high-quality catering service meeting individual needs, including specialist diets
  • Enforce budget management for food and labour through strategic planning and purchasing
  • Oversee stock control, audits, and record-keeping to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain food safety standards and compliance across the team
  • Uphold high hygiene and cleanliness standards with scheduled cleaning tasks
  • Provide food and labour budget planning, ensuring cost-effective kitchen operations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
