Company Description
Figment Coffee is a specialty coffee roastery that hand-roasts small batches on site, focusing on bringing out the distinct flavors created by bean variety, terroir, and processing methods. The company sources high-quality green beans from around the world with a strong commitment to ethical practices, farm traceability, and fair treatment of producers. Each blend and single-origin offering is carefully selected and profiled to deliver a consistently delicious cup of coffee. Figment Specialty Coffee is available for delivery and posting, with a range including blends like Wonderland, Daydream Decaf (Swiss Water Process), and single origins from Peru, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Customers can purchase 250g bags as standard, with 1kg bags available on request.
Role Description
The Chef at Figment Coffee will be responsible for planning, preparing, and presenting high-quality food that complements the company’s specialty coffee offerings. Day-to-day tasks include:

The role involves coordinating with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service, monitoring inventory and ordering ingredients, and minimizing waste. The Chef will also contribute to new food concepts that highlight ethically sourced ingredients and align with Figment Coffee’s brand.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Aberdeen.
Qualifications
- Strong culinary skills with proven experience as a Chef or Cook in a café, restaurant, or similar environment.
- Knowledge of menu development, recipe creation, and plating techniques focused on quality and consistency.
- Solid understanding of food safety standards, kitchen hygiene, and compliance with local health regulations.
- Ability to manage kitchen operations, including stock control, ordering, and cost awareness.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with front-of-house staff and management.
- Capability to perform in a fast-paced environment, with good time management and attention to detail.
- Interest in specialty coffee and pairing food with beverage offerings is highly beneficial.
- Culinary qualifications or formal training in professional cookery are an advantage.
- Willingness to work on-site in Aberdeen, with flexibility for peak service times and weekends.
