Company Description

Davenports Brewery has a heritage dating back to 1829, known for revival cask beers inspired by original secret brews. The company’s portfolio includes Highgate Brewery, established in 1898 and renowned for its classic Midlands dark “mild” beers, once producing up to 100,000 barrels a year. Dares, founded in Birmingham in 1927 and acquired by Davenports in 1960, has been reborn as a contemporary craft beer brand for products and venues. Today, Davenports blends traditional brewing methods with modern innovation, offering guests a distinctive experience rooted in local history and quality.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Chef De Partie role based in Stafford. The Chef De Partie will manage a specific kitchen section, preparing and presenting dishes to company standards, and ensuring consistency in flavor, portioning, and appearance. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef
  • Organizing mise en place
  • Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards
  • Contributing to menu development aligned with the brewery’s brand
  • Training and guiding junior kitchen team members
  • Collaborating with front-of-house staff
  • Helping to manage stock, wastage, and ordering

The position requires flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and busy event periods.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating within a busy kitchen environment.
  • Experience managing a designated kitchen section and supporting service during peak periods.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and proper kitchen cleanliness practices.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, communicate clearly, and train junior staff.
  • Good organizational skills, including managing mise en place, stock rotation, and minimizing food waste.
  • Previous experience as a Chef De Partie or Demi Chef De Partie in a pub, restaurant, or hospitality venue.
  • Culinary qualifications or professional chef training are highly beneficial.
  • Interest in beer, pub dining, and pairing food with craft and cask products is an advantage.
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes consistently.
