Job Description

Location: 587 Upper Newtownards Road

Welcome to Hastings Hotels, a family-owned business that owns and operates six hotels in Northern Ireland including 893 bedrooms, 21 quality apartments, 1 luxury lodge, a standalone gastropub, and a luxurious spa.

You can expect to work 45 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out of seven including weekends. The successful candidate should therefore have a flexible approach and be able to work on a rota basis.

About The Role

To assist in the running of the kitchen and in the preparation of dishes to the Hastings standards of preparation and presentation, and for the greatest enjoyment of our guests.

  • To assist in the effective supervision of the kitchen employees, to ensure efficient operation of the kitchen.
  • To promote and contribute to a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.
  • To ensure quality standards and procedures are fully understood and implemented, and daily checking procedures are fully applied.
  • To ensure company policies relating to stock control and stock ordering are implemented and monitored.
  • To ensure the junior Kitchen team receive the appropriate training and coaching to provide effective and efficient service in line with Hastings standards.
  • To ensure the junior Kitchen team work to Hastings standards, providing feedback to deliver effective and efficient service.
  • To maintain effective communication and relationships with other hotel departments and suppliers to maintain an effective operation and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • To ensure the security of kitchen and storage areas is maintained.
  • To ensure the kitchen areas, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained.
  • To ensure a safe environment is maintained in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation and company policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties as required.

Required Criteria

  • Right to Work in the United Kingdom
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team
  • NVQ level 2 or the equivalent in Food Preparation & Cooking
  • A recognised and current Food Hygiene Certificate
  • A professional appearance
  • Previous experience at a similar level

Desired Criteria

  • Educated to GCSE Standard or the equivalent including English and Mathematics
  • Previous experience gained within a high-quality establishment
