Job Title: Chef De Partie

Based at: The Jockey Club Rooms - Newmarket, the Exclusive Private Members Club of The Jockey Club.

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 20 hours Any 5 days from 7

About the Role

We’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team. Working alongside the Head Chef and wider brigade, you’ll play a key role in preparing and delivering high-quality food, supporting across all sections of the kitchen and helping ensure every service runs smoothly.

About The Jockey Club Rooms

The Jockey Club Rooms are the private members club of The Jockey Club. It has 24 bedrooms, beautiful public spaces, function rooms and is set in stunning grounds. It has members from all over the world and the club highlights the wonderful history of British Horse Racing and supports the work of The Jockey Club that 15 owns racecourses across the country.

The Chef De Partie will help:

  • Prepare, cook and present high-quality food made on site and prepared from locally sourced ingredients.
  • Support the Head Chef, Sous Chef and broader food and beverage team to delivering a smooth and successful service to members and guests.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Develop new menu ideas and dishes.
  • Check deliveries and ensuring stock is correctly stored, labelled and rotated.
  • Make sure everything is prepared and checked ahead of each service.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen.
  • Working flexibly as part of the wider team.
  • Carry out any reasonable task as requested by the Head Chef, Sous Chef and the Operations Manager in order to ensure the overall success of The Jockey Club Rooms.

About You

  • An NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent, along with a Level 2 Food Safety qualification.
  • Good experience working in a busy commercial kitchen, with confidence working across different sections.
  • Strong food preparation and cooking skills, with a real eye for quality and presentation.
  • A good understanding of food hygiene, food safety and kitchen procedures.
  • An interest in modern food trends, with ideas and enthusiasm to bring to the kitchen.
  • A positive, hard-working and organised approach, with the ability to keep your cool when things get busy.
  • A flexible, team-focused attitude and the willingness to work evenings and weekends when required.
