CHEF DE PARTIE – THE SHIP, WANDSWORTH
Ready to turn up the heat??
The Ship is a legendary riverside pub sitting right on the Thames, serving up great food, cold drinks and good times since 1786. We’re all about big summer days, busy services, packed terraces, DJs, live music and an atmosphere that keeps our team moving.
We’re looking for a Chef de Partie to jump into the action and join our kitchen crew.
Whether you’re already smashing it as a CDP or you’re a talented Commis Chef ready to step up, this could be your next move.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
We want our chefs to grow, develop and progress — not stay in the same place.
- Career progression – our CDP → Sous Chef development programme gives you a clear path to the top. The majority of our Head Chefs started their Young’s journey in-house.
- Culinary Masterclasses – sharpen your skills and learn from some seriously talented chefs.
- Apprenticeship opportunities – earn a nationally recognised qualification while you work.
- Weekly pay
- Service charge
- Free staff meals
- 20% off across all Young’s Pubs
- 30% off overnight stays at our Pubs with Rooms
- 28 days’ holiday

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
