What is the role?

We are seeking a Chef de Partie who will play an important role in delivering high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals for players, coaches and staff within the elite sporting environment at the Southampton Development Football Campus.

You will primarily be based at Staplewood Campus however may also provide catering support at St Mary’s Stadium, during domestic or international team travel and at other Club locations when operationally required.

What will you be doing?

Working closely with the Performance Chef, Sous Chef and the Club’s nutrition and performance teams, you will prepare, cook and present fresh, high-quality food that meets the Club’s standards for nutrition, consistency, food safety and presentation. Taking responsibility for a designated kitchen section, you will deliver meals for players, coaches, staff and visitors that support fuelling, recovery, wellbeing and performance, while ensuring all food is produced in line with agreed recipes, menus and nutritional specifications.

You will play an important role in delivering a seamless catering service across training days, matchdays, events and team travel. This includes supporting a variety of service formats, such as live cooking stations, buffets, takeaway meals and snack provision, as well as contributing ideas for menu development, seasonal offerings and continuous service improvement.

Maintaining the highest standards of food safety and compliance will be central to your role. You will ensure all food hygiene, allergen management, health and safety procedures are followed, taking appropriate measures to prevent cross-contamination and ensuring ingredients and prepared foods are correctly labelled, stored and rotated. You will also work flexibly across Staplewood Campus, St Mary’s Stadium and other Club locations to support operational requirements.

You thrive under pressure, have excellent attention to detail and enjoy working collaboratively with others. Organised, adaptable and reliable, you are committed to delivering outstanding service and maintaining high standards at all times.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional culinary qualification at NVQ Level 2 or Level 3, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Appropriate Food Safety qualification.
  • Experience within elite professional sport, a training-ground environment or performance catering as a Chef de Partie or in a comparable professional kitchen role.
  • Experience preparing and presenting fresh food to consistently high standards.
  • Strong fresh-food cooking and presentation skills and consistent attention to detail and quality.
  • The ability to remain calm and deliver consistently under pressure.
  • Experience working collaboratively with nutritionists, sports scientists or other performance specialists (desirable).
  • Knowledge of sports-nutrition principles and performance-led cooking (desirable).
