The Role
To support the preparation and delivery of high-performance meals for Manchester United's First Team, Academy, and Women’s Team players at the Carrington Training Complex. Working under the guidance of the First Team Performance Chef, you will help ensure that all culinary operations meet the highest standards of nutrition, hygiene, and presentation, contributing to player performance and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the First Team Head Performance Chef and the Senior Sous Chefs in preparing and serving nutritionally balanced meals tailored to athletes’ performance and recovery needs.
- Deliver high-quality dishes in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment while adhering to set menu specifications and portion control standards.
- Assist in the preparation of meals across breakfast, lunch, and occasional evening services, ensuring food is served on time and to specification.
- Maintain strict hygiene, safety, and allergen control protocols in accordance with current legislation and club policy.
- Take personal responsibility for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, including proper use of PPE and adherence to uniform standards.
- Maintain discretion and professionalism when working in a high-profile, confidential environment.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with the wider culinary team, nutrition staff, and performance departments to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Complete all required training modules and documentation prior to commencing work and participate in ongoing development as required.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Performance Chef or wider catering team

The Person:
Requirements
- Minimum Level 2 Food Safety Certificate and Allergens Certificate (within the last 3 years).
- Previous experience in a high-performance kitchen or professional sports catering environment preferred.
- Strong culinary skills with a passion for healthy, performance-driven food preparation.
- Excellent understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
- Ability to work flexibly, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings, as required by the training and match schedules.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work efficiently in a team setting.
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a respectful approach in a confidential environment.

Additional Information:
- This is a zero hour contract, but the role typically requires approximately 40 hours per week, depending on the needs of the teams and training schedule.
- The successful candidate will be expected to complete mandatory online training modules before their first shift, including:
- Food Allergens
- Food Safety Level 2
- Health & Safety
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Customer Service (as relevant to the role)
