Salary: £30,500 per annum

About The Role

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Chef de Partie to join the kitchen team at Cheltenham College. You’ll be responsible for supporting food preparation and service within your section, maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene, and playing an important role in the delivery of daily meals and special events.

You will be joining Holroyd Howe, one of the UK’s leading contract caterers, providing fresh, innovative food services exclusively to independent schools and colleges. Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Chef de Partie to join our dynamic culinary team in Cheltenham, United Kingdom. As a Chef de Partie, you will take responsibility for your designated section, supporting the senior kitchen team whilst developing your culinary expertise, maintaining high food quality standards, and contributing to a collaborative kitchen environment.   • Prepare and cook dishes according to recipes and standards established by the Head Chef and senior kitchen team, ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of your designated section, ensuring it is organised, clean, well-stocked, and ready for service.
  • Maintain high quality standards for all dishes, consistently checking presentation, taste, portion control, and consistency before service.
  • Work positively and effectively with all members of the kitchen team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a professional and collaborative working environment.
  • Follow menu specifications and recipes accurately, while contributing ideas and suggestions to support menu development and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with stock control within your section, ensuring ingredients are stored correctly, stock levels are monitored, and food waste is minimised.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen equipment and work areas, ensuring all equipment is used safely and any faults are reported promptly.
  • Demonstrate resilience and composure whilst managing multiple priorities during busy service periods, maintaining high standards under pressure.
  • Support the senior kitchen team with food preparation, plating, and service to ensure meals are delivered consistently, efficiently, and to the required standard.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and handled in accordance with allergen, food safety, HACCP, and company procedures.
  • Support the training and development of junior members of the kitchen team by sharing knowledge and demonstrating good working practices.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in a professional kitchen environment, ideally in a Chef de Partie, Commis Chef, or similar culinary role.
  • Good knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and a range of cuisines, with a willingness to continue developing culinary skills.
  • Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen management, and HACCP principles, with a current Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment whilst maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, with good organisational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive and collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
  • Ability to take responsibility for a designated kitchen section and ensure it is prepared, organised, and maintained to the required standard.
  • Awareness of stock control, portion control, food costs, and minimising food waste.
  • Ability to follow recipes, specifications, and instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and professional during busy service periods.
  • Willingness to contribute ideas and support menu development and continuous improvement within the kitchen.
  • Good knowledge of kitchen equipment and the ability to use equipment safely and correctly.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and during school events where required.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, food quality, hygiene, and customer service.
  • A positive attitude towards learning, development, and supporting colleagues within the kitchen team.
