Job Role: Chef

Location: The Hollies Farm Shop - The Friesian Rooms

Type of contract: Full-Time

Reports to: The Friesian Rooms Manager

Key Responsibilities

Service & Kitchen Team Support

  • Food preparation, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards
  • Create and maintain a positive, collaborative atmosphere on shift
  • Represent the department in dealings with suppliers or environmental health officers in the manager’s absence
  • Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, safety, and compliance
  • Work seamlessly with other departments to ensure smooth overall operations

Customer Service

  • Greet customers warmly and provide a friendly, welcoming experience
  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently
  • Answer questions about menu items, ingredients, and allergens
  • Handle customer payments with care and accuracy
  • Resolve customer concerns politely and professionally

Customer Experience

  • Deliver top-tier customer service, responding to queries and resolving concerns where necessary
  • Ensure consistency during busy breakfast, brunch, and lunch services
  • Handle any customer complaints in a calm and professional manner

Food & Beverage Service

  • Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages to company standards
  • Serve food items in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards
  • Restock displays, fridges, and service areas as needed

Cleanliness & Organisation

  • Maintain cleanliness of all takeaway areas, including counters, equipment, indoor seating area, external seating area
  • Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times, including wearing aprons, hair tied back, hand washing, no eating (hand to mouth)
  • Assist with all opening and closing duties, including Logit records

Team Support

  • Work collaboratively with baristas and kitchen staff
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and managers
  • Support smooth daily operations during busy periods

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Monitor stock levels, rotate products (fridge and freezer), and minimise waste
  • Maintain accurate inventory records
  • Keep stock areas orderly and accessible
  • Ensure inventory storage supports efficiency and cleanliness

You’ll Have:

  • Strong initiative and sound decision-making abilities
  • The resilience to handle pressure and fluctuating workloads
  • High standards of cleanliness and attention to hygiene protocols
  • A proactive approach to safety and compliance across the department
