Job Description

Aramark UK are currently recruiting an experienced Chef Manager to join our team working at the Salvation Army, EH8 9UE

You will be responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the unit, preparing meals, delegating tasks to your team and leading your team to success.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver nutritious, balanced meals for a diverse community
  • Create seasonal, inclusive menus meeting dietary, allergen, vegetarian, and vegan requirements
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the catering team, including recruitment, rotas, training, and performance
  • Foster a positive, inclusive culture with high team engagement and morale
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, HACCP, health & safety legislation, and record keeping
  • Manage budgets, stock, suppliers, waste, and costs to meet financial targets
  • Deliver excellent customer experiences and lead catering for events & hospitality functions
  • Ensure that all weekly and monthly timesheets are collated and returned by the appropriate deadlines and as per payroll Instructions.
  • To ensure that all Aramark stock on site is properly managed and that all monthly stocktake reports are completed correctly.
  • To ensure that all equipment is stored correctly and is in good working order and highlight areas of concern in this area.
  • To ensure that any client queries are dealt with effectively and quickly.
  • Arrange cover in absence of cleaners and mobile cleaning specialists.
  • To ensure that the cleaning schedule for all areas is carried out to a high standard.
  • To meet with the Regional Manager weekly with a prepared report updating on any issues that they have resolved or issues that need to be raised to a higher level.
  • Host staff meetings and hold Health and Safety toolbox talks on a monthly basis.
  • Deal with all staff performance, disciplinary issues in line with company procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation on client sites and communicate these to the regional manager

  • Proven experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, or Catering Manager
  • Background in education, contract catering, or large scale catering environments
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Sound knowledge of food safety legislation and allergen management
  • Excellent organisational, operational, and budgeting skills
