Bowood Court & Mews Care Home

Bowood Court & Mews Care Home is a modern residential, dementia and respite care home in Redditch, Worcestershire. With beautifully designed living spaces, sensory gardens and a vibrant programme of activities, our dedicated team creates a welcoming environment where residents are supported to enjoy every day.

Chef Manager Contract

  • £35,655 per annum
  • Contracted to 40 hours per week
  • Paid DBS, pension and uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Role Overview

As Chef Manager, you will lead the kitchen team in delivering a high-quality dining experience that supports residents' health, wellbeing and enjoyment. You will plan, prepare and cook fresh, nutritious and well-balanced meals, ensuring menus reflect residents' preferences, dietary requirements and seasonal choices while maintaining exceptional standards of quality and presentation.

You will oversee the day-to-day management of the kitchen, including supervising and developing the kitchen team, managing rotas, budgets, stock control and supplier relationships to ensure an efficient and well-organised catering service. You will also monitor resident satisfaction, attend resident and relative meetings, and continually improve the dining experience through feedback and innovation.

You will ensure the kitchen operates safely and efficiently by maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and compliance with HACCP, COSHH, Health & Safety and infection prevention procedures. You will oversee equipment maintenance, stock rotation and food ordering, ensuring the catering service consistently delivers outstanding hospitality and value.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience managing a busy kitchen, ideally catering for 25 covers or more; care home experience is desirable.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate with a good understanding of HACCP, COSHH and food safety legislation.
  • Experience leading, supervising and developing a kitchen team.
  • Strong knowledge of menu planning, nutrition and catering for specialist dietary requirements.
  • Experience managing catering budgets, stock control, supplier relationships and kitchen rotas.
  • Good organisational, communication and people management skills with the ability to lead by example.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, infection prevention and maintaining a safe kitchen environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • A passionate, organised and customer-focused individual committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience for residents.
