Chef - Part Time

We are pleased to be looking for a Chef to join our team at Castle Village in Berkhamsted. This is a part time position working 19 hours per week, with shifts on Friday 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Saturday 9:00am to 3:00pm, and Sunday 8:00am to 3:00pm.

About the Role

As a Chef, you will play a key role in all aspects of kitchen management, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation. You will work closely with the Head Chef and wider culinary team to ensure the highest standards of food quality and service are delivered to our residents and guests. Creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for producing delicious, nutritious meals are essential in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of high quality meals, following established recipes and portion controls.
  • Support the smooth running of the kitchen, supervising the team when required and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
  • Contribute to menu planning and development, taking into account the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
  • Help maintain stock levels and minimise food waste while supporting food cost control.
  • Deliver a positive and professional service to residents, visitors, and colleagues.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for older people would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A team player with a passion for delivering exceptional food and service.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evening shifts as part of the rota.
