What You’ll Be Doing
As Chef/Cook, you’ll help set the standard in our brand-new kitchen by:
- Planning, preparing and cooking nutritious, appealing meals centred around residents’ preferences and dietary needs
- Following St Mary’s Care Homes’ Good Food Guide and adapting menus when needed
- Supporting and guiding a brand-new kitchen team, helping build a positive, friendly working environment
- Supervising, appraising and interviewing kitchen staff
- Ensuring full compliance with HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health requirements
- Maintaining immaculate kitchen cleanliness and implementing cleaning schedules
- Managing stock levels, ordering from approved suppliers and ensuring proper rotation
- Ensuring all kitchen equipment is safe, functional and well-maintained
- Contributing to team meetings and supporting the Home Manager with staff development
- Engaging with residents and families, gathering feedback and shaping menus that reflect community tastes and traditions
