Chemical Process Technologist

The Opportunity
Tiro Associates is partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit a Chemical Process Technologist to support process performance, chemical optimisation and continuous improvement at its operational site in Kent which has its own Water Treatment Plant.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of process chemistry, production and quality. You will play a key role in optimising chemical systems, conducting trials and identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, product quality and environmental performance.
Working closely with production teams, technical colleagues and external suppliers, you will use your analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver practical improvements across site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Optimisation: Monitor and optimise process chemistry and chemical treatment programmes to maintain performance, quality and cost efficiency.
- Chemical Trials: Plan, coordinate and conduct chemical trials to evaluate improvements and support operational performance.
- Quality & Analysis: Oversee quality control activities, analyse results, investigate customer complaints and identify root causes of quality issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency, operational reliability and cost control.
- Chemical Management: Support the safe handling, storage and use of process chemicals, ensuring appropriate procedures and assessments are maintained.
- Supplier Collaboration: Work with production teams and chemical suppliers to improve chemical systems and performance.
- Environmental Performance: Support water treatment and effluent treatment activities, contributing to environmental compliance.
- Health & Safety: Maintain high standards of chemical safety, environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.

About You
We are keen to hear from candidates with a background in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline who are looking to apply their technical knowledge in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
You will ideally bring:
- A degree or relevant qualification in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry or a related technical subject.
- Experience in process optimisation, chemical systems, process chemistry or a related industrial environment.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, investigate issues and develop effective solutions.
- An understanding of chemical safety, quality control and environmental compliance.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with production teams, technical specialists and external suppliers.
- Experience with chemical trials, water treatment, effluent treatment or industrial chemical programmes would be advantageous.
