The responsibilities below represent more than daily tasks. They are opportunities to support safe operations, maintain quality standards, collaborate with teammates, and contribute to the products and solutions trusted by customers around the world:
- Monitor and control chemical processes, including washer operations, the reverse osmosis unit, and effluent treatment, making adjustments as required to maintain operating, quality, and legal standards.
- Perform chemical inspection tests and monitor product quality through manual checks and automated systems, investigating out-of-specification results and taking corrective action.
- Carry out planned and daily maintenance on process-area machinery and systems, restore repaired equipment to working order, support maintenance and conversions, and maintain required maintenance records.
- Maintain appropriate operating conditions for metal coating solutions, coolant water, and copper lubricant to support optimum equipment performance, can flow, and production of quality cans.
- Identify and isolate mechanical or process defects, communicate quality and equipment issues to the appropriate Shift Manager or Team Leader, and exchange relevant information during shift changes.
- Follow health, safety, PPE, environmental, hazardous-waste, spill-response, emergency, housekeeping, and applicable ISO management-system requirements while contributing to process and quality improvements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
