Chemistry Expert - Remote Contract

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chemistry Expert based in United Kingdom.

This remote contract opportunity is designed for experienced chemistry professionals who are passionate about applying their expertise to the development of next-generation AI technologies. In this role, you will create advanced scientific problems that challenge cutting-edge AI systems while reflecting real-world chemistry applications. Working in a flexible, research-driven environment, you will combine technical knowledge, computational thinking, and scientific rigor to produce high-quality training and evaluation datasets. Your contributions will directly support the advancement of AI models capable of solving complex STEM challenges. This is an excellent opportunity to work on innovative projects with flexible hours and the potential for ongoing collaboration.

Accountabilities

  • Design advanced chemistry problems that reflect authentic scientific and industrial workflows.
  • Develop deterministic tasks with a single verifiable correct answer, supported by complete and validated solutions.
  • Create reasoning-intensive and computationally rigorous exercises covering a range of chemistry disciplines.
  • Apply Python and relevant chemistry software or simulation tools where appropriate to develop technically accurate content.
  • Ensure all tasks are reproducible, clearly documented, and meet high standards of scientific precision.
  • Produce concise, well-structured technical explanations in English to accompany each problem.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of AI training datasets through accurate, high-quality scientific content.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
  • Research or industry experience involving computational, quantitative, or applied chemistry workflows.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with scientific computing libraries.
  • Solid understanding of chemical modeling, numerical methods, and advanced scientific reasoning.
  • Ability to design original, challenging chemistry problems that extend beyond standard textbook exercises.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and technical writing skills in English.
  • Experience with computational chemistry, cheminformatics, spectroscopy, molecular modeling, simulation software, or chemistry-focused data analysis tools is considered an advantage.
  • Previous experience creating technical assessments, scientific educational content, or evaluation materials is a plus.
