Location: Craigavon, UK
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Flexible working.

The Roles
Almac Sciences is recruiting a number of talented chemists to join our teams, working across biocatalysis, custom synthesis and flow chemistry.
Our teams perform high-quality chemistry for clients in accordance with agreed project requirements and timelines. We are looking for motivated scientists with an appetite for innovation and an interest in developing new applications for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Depending on the team you join, you could contribute to:
- Route scouting and the development of innovative synthetic methods
- Batch and continuous-flow chemistry
- Enzyme screening and enzyme-catalysed synthesis
- Multistep organic synthesis
- Reaction screening and process optimisation
- Developing robust processes for transfer to larger-scale manufacturing

What You Need To Be Successful
To be considered for these opportunities, you will hold a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent qualification, in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or another closely related scientific discipline.
We are interested in hearing from candidates with relevant knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
Custom Synthesis and Flow Chemistry
- Practical organic chemistry and associated analytical techniques
- Multistep synthesis
- Batch chemistry development
- Continuous-flow chemistry
- Process development and scale-up
Biocatalysis
- Enzyme screening and enzyme-catalysed synthesis
- Screening assay development for the rapid identification of active enzymes
- Biocatalysis or biotransformation processes
- Process development and scale-up
Further information
Candidates will be considered at Chemist, Senior Chemist or Technical Leader level, depending on their qualifications, experience and technical expertise.
