Chemistry Organics Technical Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemistry Organics Technical Manager to support the Chemistry Operations Manager in delivering exceptional Quality and Technical Management at our Coventry site. This role is central to ensuring our laboratory continues to produce results that are robust, reliable, and legally defensible, maintaining our reputation for scientific excellence. Hours Per Week: 30
Days Per Week: Wednesday - Saturday (flexible working)
Basis: Part Time and Permanent
Hiring Manager: Luke Smith

The Day to Day

  • Maintain and continuously improve the company's quality management system, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025, MCERTS and associated quality procedures.
  • Conduct technical reviews of NCW and AQC investigations.
  • Review method control charts and approve limit changes where required.
  • Evaluate proficiency testing (PT) performance.
  • Monitor analyst competence and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) records.
  • Approve Annual Method Reviews, operating procedures, methods and other quality documentation.
  • Authorise Chemistry test reports.
  • Support the development and improvement of analytical methods.
  • Review and approve new solutions.
  • Collaborate with Chemistry teams to resolve technical issues and maintain high standards of analytical quality.

The Essentials

  • HND, HNC, degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a technical Chemistry role.
  • Extensive knowledge of Chemistry quality systems.
  • Proven experience with proficiency testing (PT), AQC and NCW investigations, and staff competency assessments.
  • Experience working to ISO 17025 accreditation; experience with MCERTS, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Strong influencing skills with the confidence to challenge constructively.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across teams and with key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and critical evaluation skills, with the ability to interpret scientific data and draw sound technical conclusions.
