About the Opportunity
Mercor is seeking expert chemists to author and verify high-quality academic assessment content for an AI research initiative. You will develop rigorous chemistry questions, evaluate solution quality, and help establish gold-standard benchmarks designed to measure and advance AI capabilities across multiple chemistry domains.
You may contribute through Question Authoring or Question Verification, depending on your expertise and project needs.
Responsibilities
- Author original, challenging multiple-choice questions that assess deep conceptual understanding rather than surface-level recall.
- Ensure questions are unambiguous, self-contained, precisely defined, and contain all information necessary for solving.
- Rate question difficulty as Medium, Hard, or Expert based on academic level.
- Provide 1 correct answer and 9 plausible but subtly incorrect alternatives designed to challenge advanced solvers.
- Develop clear, step-by-step solutions with concise intermediate reasoning in Markdown format.
- Provide 1–5 reputable academic references for each question, including peer-reviewed journals and university repositories.
- Review pre-written chemistry questions for accuracy, clarity, completeness, precision, and solvability.
- Identify and document issues found during verification and justify any edits or corrections.
- Help maintain consistent academic rigor and quality across benchmark content.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
